Sarah moved from British Columbia to Long Beach when she was 23 to complete her Master’s Degree in Sport Management and has been enjoying the California weather ever since.
A long-time ice hockey player, Sarah completed her career as an NCAA athlete and transitioned into CrossFit where she learned the Olympic lifts. After coaching and competing in CrossFit for years, Chris invited her to join his small, 5-guy weightlifting club where she quickly saw how Chris was (or wasn’t) managing his club. She suggested lunch and asked him if he wanted help with the back end of the business so he could focus on coaching and programming which he couldn’t turn down - lunch and the help. Soon after that they bought a local gym so she could transition her Student Visa to a Business Visa, they moved the club in and have been growing SoCal Weightlifting ever since. In January 2020 they accidentally gave their friends and family everyone’s last vacation for a couple years by getting married in Maui.
Sarah has a bachelor’s degree from Camosun College in Sport & Fitness Leadership and a Master’s Degree from CSULB in Sport Management. Sarah is an elected member on the board of the California South Weightlifting State Organization, the local governing body for USA Weightlifting in Southern California . She is also a co-owner of Onyx Straps and a business consultant for other gyms and weightlifting clubs.
